Date with Colin Firth

Today was the day, the day I promised that I would sit with Kim and watch 5 HOURS of Colin Firth in Pride & Prejudice. Now, five hours can go by quickly when you are busy stuffing your face with yummy junk food (Kim, LOVE that hot wing dip, Bob now understands my obsession with it!), commenting on the ridiculousness of the characters and cheering at all of the great insults that Elizabeth Bennett threw at Mr. Darcy. After viewing this version, I will have to give credit where credit is due. This movie is much prettier to watch and I liked the way the actress portrayed Elizabeth Bennett. Her performance was much more in line with the character in the book than Kiera Knightley’s portrayal. I will give Colin Firth something, you are able to see his transition of disdain to love for her, but he does have five hours to do it. Each version has its merits so I can’t say overall which one I liked the best. But the real reason we had watched it was to judge who was the hotter Mr. Darcy. The vote is in: I fancied the “new” Mr. Darcy much better. Just the way he said, “You have bewitched me, body and soul.” Who can say no to him? And I don’t care if that line wasn’t even in the book!

Plans Rearranged

Earlier this week (Thursday night), I had thought of a wonderful thing to do tonight: the St. Louis Science Center. Why? Well, because Bob and I had never been there together and the last time that I was there was probably high school. It would be dinner and then on to the Science Center with Kenny and Krissy. But, alas, that was not to happen. Because it was such a gorgeous evening, Kenny pointed out that Cicero’s would be packed so we decided to go to the Cheesecake Factory. Well, after a half-hour wait, we were seated to find out that our waiter would disappear for long blocks of time. What should have been an hour dinner turned out to be closer to two hours. That meant no time for the Science Center. But a great substitution: MarioKart on the GameCube! We have found another couple who will play videogames! Totally awesome!

Date with Jesse

Last night, Jesse and I went out to a dinner and a movie. Because the holidays were so busy for us, it had been a while since we’ve seen each other. So, after work, I drove down to her place and went to Outback for dinner. Of course, I had leftovers to bring back to Bob (I know, I spoil him rotten). Then we popped over to the Esquire to watch Chronicles of Narnia. I’ve never read the book but I knew the basic plot. After watching it, I now want to read the series. It was definitely a good movie, go see it, if you haven’t already.

Worthless Weekend

We did absolutely nothing this weekend, it was great! Well, I take that back, we did go see David Alan Grier perform at the Touhill on Friday with Kim. That was good times. As he was performing, all I could think about was him in Jumunji, being harrassed by the monkeys. They guy before him, Kjell, was okay, but there were a couple of moments where you could hear crickets. But other than that, nothing. Do you want to know the reason? CSI: Season 5. That is what happened to us. We bought it on Saturday and from the moment we got home, we didn’t move. Even the dog slept on her bed for most of the weekend. God, we were lazy. Now it’s the new week, I must resist the CSI, I don’t know if I have the willpower. I only have three more discs to watch!
